One of the best things about flapjacks is how quickly and easily they come together. In just five minutes, you’ll have a batter ready to go, and the magic happens right on your stovetop. While they sizzle away, your kitchen fills with the sweetest, most inviting aroma.
Serve your flapjacks warm and fresh, stacked high with a drizzle of syrup, a spoonful of honey, or your favorite jam. Add a generous dollop of whipped cream for an indulgent touch—trust me, you’ll want to savor every bite!
Flapjack (Crumpet) Recipe
This recipe makes about 18 flapjacks, depending on their size.
Ingredients:
500 ml white flour
45 ml sugar
2 ml salt
2 eggs
250 ml water
125 ml milk
30 ml sunflower oil
15 ml syrup (like golden syrup, maple, or honey)
20 ml baking powder
Directions:
- Combine dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Stir in the sugar and salt. - Mix wet ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and water until well blended. - Make the batter:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Mix well, scraping down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is evenly combined. - Add in oil & syrup:
Stir in the oil and syrup until the batter is smooth. - Final touch:
Lastly, gently stir through the baking powder until just combined (this ensures your flapjacks are extra fluffy!). - Cook the flapjacks:
Heat a well-greased non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Spoon large tablespoons of batter onto the hot pan. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
Serve and enjoy:
Stack them high and serve warm with syrup, honey, or jam—and don’t forget a little fresh whipped cream on the side!
